BIOGRAPHY

Dejan Krsmanović is a Serbian composer and guitarist whose music flows effortlessly between gypsy jazz, Balkan traditions, and cinematic soundscapes. After completing his studies at a music school in Čačak, he began a prolific career composing and producing music for radio and TV commercials across Serbia, establishing himself as a versatile and creative voice in the local music scene.

His debut album, You know what!?, released in 2012, introduced audiences to his distinctive style, blending technical brilliance with heartfelt expression. A collaboration with renowned Norwegian producer and guitarist Jon Larsen brought further recognition, when Larsen included Dejan’s composition, “Maro, Maro,” on an anthology dedicated to Django Reinhardt, alongside globally celebrated jazz artists. In 2019, Dejan released Komedija with accordion virtuoso Jordan Đević, demonstrating his gift for fusing traditional Balkan sounds with contemporary jazz.

Dejan has performed at major festivals, including the Nishville Jazz Fest in Niš, Django Feszt Budapest—sharing the stage with luminaries such as Roby Lakatos, Aurore Voilqué, and Angelo Debarre—and represented Serbian culture at the World Expo 2020 in Dubai. In 2023, his career reached new heights with invitations to perform at the prestigious Django Reinhardt Festival in Fontainebleau and the Au Grés du Jazz Festival in France, where he also participated in an artistic residency at La Petite Pierre. That year, he released the album Kompilacija, followed by Au Grés du Jazz – Live in September 2024.

In 2026, Dejan expanded his discography with two new albums: Sam sebi, a deeply personal collection of original compositions, and Together, a collaborative project with accordion virtuoso Jordan Đević that further explores the meeting point of Balkan musical traditions and gypsy jazz.

A multi-instrumentalist on guitar, bass, and piano, Dejan Krsmanović captivates audiences with music that balances virtuosity, emotional depth, and cultural richness. His compositions and performances are a journey, connecting listeners across genres and borders, and revealing a unique voice in the global jazz and world music landscape.
